Music Monday | All the Poor and Powerless by Sons & Daughters

Last week I went to serve and learn at STORY. A conference for the creative class. During the gathering we were led by Kari Jobe, who is great, and Sons & Daughter, who I had never heard of. As they sang the song All the Poor and Powerless I was completely lost in worship. Seriously it changed the posture of my heart as we started the second day of the conference. I will let the song speak for itself.

(verse)
All the poor and powerless
And all the lost and lonely
All the thieves will come confess
And know that you are holy
Will know that you are holy

(chorus)
All will sing out, Hallelujah
We will cry out, Hallelujah

(verse)
All the hearts who are content
And all who feel unworthy
All who hurt will nothing left
Will know that you are holy

(bridge)
Shout it, go on and scream it from the mountains
Go on and tell it to the masses
That He is God

Music Monday | King of Anything by Sara Bareilles

Sara Bareilles' new album Kaleidoscope Heart is better than her first, Little Voice. King of Anything is a great pop song with catchy lyrics that helps you think about how you listen, communicate, and help people make decisions. Do you force it upon them or help them discover what is happening in their life? Personally this song helps me think about how I handle the good news of Jesus, my life, and reaching out to others. I need to help others take the right steps and make the right decisions in their life, and in their relationship with God. I don not need copy and paste from mine. Yes, truth is truth, but hearts need to be prepared before the good news takes hold.

My Favorite Lyric:
All my life I’ve tried to make everybody happy
While I just hurt and hide
Waiting for someone to tell me it’s my turn to decide

Music Monday | Lead Me by Sanctus Reel

My wife turned me on to this song. I've always liked Sanctus Reel, but this song didn't jump out at me until I took a long listen to the lyrics. Immediately I connected with it.

The Story Behind "Lead Me" - Sanctus Real

Thank you Sondra for pointing me to take a long listen to this song.  I pray I lead you and the girls well as God leads me.  I love you so much!

Passing the Baton

There comes a time in every generation when the baton will be passed to the next generation.
It seems to me that my generation is about to receive the baton. The question is what are we going to do with it? Are we going to run the race well or just belly ache about our situation? Time will tell?
2 Timothy 4:7 - I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, and I have remained faithful.
It's our turn to lay our lives down for other, to lead as servant leaders, and to run the race faithfully.
