Twitter | Tool or Terrible?

I like technology. And often it can be a helpful tool to enhance my life. But I often wonder if the tools are taking over my life instead of helping.

Take a the cool social networking sites like facebook or twitter. They are suppose to keep me more in touch and connected with people I care about. However the technology itself can take over my life without me knowing it. The tool that was built to make me more connected becomes the antithesis of what it is suppose to do. The tool becomes terrible!

[Check out this video, it explains this perfectly]

What tools are robbing you of life?

When my time is up...

"When our time comes" is a strange saying when speaking of death. Shouldn't it be "when my time is up".

I have been wondering why the good news has been presented as something that we need to reconcile with before "our time comes". This is also know as fire insurance or get out of hell free card.

I have been reminded lately through scripture and my own life that the good news is given to us before "our time is up". Meaning I need to live a good news life today.

The good news life that I speak of is three fold.

That I can...
...be freed from my own sin, the sins of this world and the judgment we all deserve.
...live an eternal (life to the full) life.
...live my most heroic life today.
Through Christ, God has made a way for us to join in his story to reconcile, redeem, and restore all things to him.

Live your life until your time is up! The eternal will remain.

Flickering Pixels | Book Review

Flickering Pixels by Shane Hipps is one of the most insightful and intelligent faith-based books I've read in a long time. In the book Shane explorers how technology and media shapes our world and our faith. He also masterfully explains how the age old mantra of "the medium must change, but the message remains the same" is not true.

What I appreciate most about Flickering Pixels is that it doesn't invite you into a one side argument about technology (telling you what is right and/or wrong). Instead, it offers an invitation to discover effects that technology has on our hearts, our souls, and our faith.

Flickering Pixels: How Technology Shapes Your Faith

I could not put this book down. I highly doubt that you will be able to either.

Funny Friday | Going Away Present

My friend and onetime co-worker, Dan Knight, is now working at NewPointe. When he left New Hope we did not have a party or gave him a gift. So I suggested to our team that we should give him a present from our Dirty Job set design. After all it was the last set that Dan made before leaving.

Thank you, Dan Knight from Jeff Selph on Vimeo.

Yes, they did drop a toilet with flowers in it on Dan's lawn. Priceless!
Thank you Dan for all your hard work!
