The Fray | Ask Anything

I'm a big fan of the Fray. I just pre-ordered their new album coming out in Feb. I stumbled upon their new single, You Found Me, while I was on ABC's website. Lost is using the single as a promo track/video for their new season.

You can to listen to You Found Me here.

As best as I can hear the lyrics go like this...
----------------------------------------------------
//Verse 1//
I found God
On the corner of First and Amistad
Where the west
Was all but won
All alone
Smoking his last cigarette
I said, “Where you been?”
He said, “Ask anything.”

//Verse 2//
Where were you
When everything was falling apart?
All my days
Were spent by the telephone
It never rang
And all I needed was a call
It never came
To the corner of First and Amistad
//Chorus //
Lost and insecure
You found me, you found me
Lying on the floor
Surrounded, Surrounded
Why did you have to wait?
Where were you? Where were you?
Just a little late
You found me, you found me
//Verse 3//
In the end
everyone ends up alone
losing heart
the only one who’s ever known
who I am, who I’m not, and who I want to be
no way to know
how long she will be next to me
//Chorus//
//Bridge//

Early morning
City breaks
I’ve been calling for years and years and years and years
and you never left me no messages
you never sent me no letters
you got some kind of nerve
taken all I want
Lost and insecure
You found me, you found me
Lying on the floor
Where were you, where were you?

//Chorus//
Why did you have to wait
to find me?
to find me?
----------------------------------------------------
This song is brutally honest. I resonate as if my heart was plucked like a guitar string.

I have asked many times in my life, "Where were you God when ______ happened? Why did you wait to save me from ______ ?"

I admire the Fray for allowing people to wrestle with their doubt. They starting the 1st verse with I found God and ends the exact same verse with He said, "Ask Anything."

By the time you make it to the end of the song you realize that the song admits that God has found him. The question that he is really asking is "[God]... why did I have to experience the pain of being alone, on the floor, lost, and insecure and what was I suppose to learn?"

Have you ever cried out to God when you are staring those moments of doubt and pain in the face? You should. The scriptures speak of it repeatedly. He's there, waiting for you to 'Ask Him Anything."

Ask Anything...
It's amazing what he can teach you as you wait for him.
And don't fret... He will find you!
